This year, Catholics across our nation are being invited to participate in a historic act of faith: the Consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The bishops of the United States have called upon all Catholics to entrust our nation, our communities, our families, and ourselves to the loving Heart of Christ.
This consecration takes on special significance as our nation commemorates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. As Americans reflect with gratitude on the blessings of liberty and the sacrifices of those who helped establish our nation, Catholics are invited to remember that true freedom is ultimately found in Jesus Christ. By consecrating our nation to His Sacred Heart, we acknowledge our dependence upon God and ask for His guidance as we continue to pursue the ideals of justice, peace, and human dignity.
As disciples of Jesus, we are called to become instruments of His Sacred Heart by extending mercy, seeking justice, caring for those in need, and fostering unity within our communities.
Our parishes will participate in this national consecration on Friday, June 12, immediately following the 8 a.m. Mass at Saint Boniface. We will gather at the Sacred Heart statue to pray the official Prayer of Consecration.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us, our nation, and the whole world.
