Message from the Bishop

Posted on September 24, 2021 in: General News

Dear Friends in Christ,

This has been a year like no other. We have all been wounded and broken, confronted by our own limitations and the reminder that for all of our gifts and abilities, we are ultimately not in control of our lives.

As we experience light in our world, I trust that we are able to see and embrace the abiding presence of God – a God who has continually been at work in our lives through countless encounters with mercy and compassion that we have been blessed to extend to others and experience ourselves.

I am grateful to so many parishioners who have extended God’s mercy and love during the past year to help others by reaching out to support family, friends, our parishes and our Diocese even when families may have been struggling themselves. I am grateful also to our clergy, parish and Diocesan staffs for your selfless service and your commitment to build up the Kingdom of God especially in this most difficult year.

Thank you to all those who were able to make a gift to the Diocesan Annual Appeal. Because of your generosity last year, we were able to raise $4.1 million, matching the amount raised during the previous year.

Your gifts of support to the Diocesan Annual Appeal make a difference in the lives of those we serve in so many ways.

By God’s grace, may we continue rising together in Christ.

Faithfully yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Joseph C. Bambera, D.D., J.C.L.
Bishop of Scranton
